Eli the
Dragonfly Hand Puppet
Multilocus developed ‘Eli
the Dragonfly’ for
the Catholic Education Office of Western Australia.
Eli is the first
Australian developed English as a Second Language
CD-ROM for lower primary school students. Based on the Fostering
English
Language In Kimberley Schools (FELIKS) approach the
CD-ROM aims to increase student awareness of Standard
Australian
English
(SAE) and focuses specifically on features that cause
difficulty
for Aboriginal students.
During the early development phase of the Eli project the idea
for a hand puppet was conceived to assist teachers to move Eli
from the computer into the classroom. The CEO undertook to develop
the puppet in-house. They were unhappy with the prototypes so
Multilocus offered to design and manufacture the puppet.
Now Eli is a much sought after item - and not only by children!
